GPS tracker charging station

Multi-cell charging device for autonomous GPS trackers with a modem: tracker-presence detection, charge-need check and charge-complete indication.

Task

What had to be solved

The task was to make a service device for autonomous GPS trackers. A tracker is inserted into a charging cell, and the electronics determine its presence and whether charging is needed.

Result

What the project reached

A GPS-tracker charging station was developed with tracker-presence detection in each cell and indication of charge completion.

Engineering context

Important constraints

The device worked with autonomous GPS trackers that include a modem.

It had to detect whether a tracker is present in a specific charging cell.

Charging should not require manual checking of every tracker state.

Charge completion is shown with green light indication.

Work done

What was included

Charging-cell circuitry.

Tracker-presence detection.

Logic for determining whether charging is needed.

Charge-process control.

LED state indication.

PCB design.

Microcontroller firmware for control logic.

Engineering project description

Device purpose

The project belongs to the service infrastructure for autonomous GPS trackers. Such devices are useful when trackers are regularly removed from an object, charged and then returned to operation.

Operating logic

The key logic consists of three steps: detect tracker presence in the cell, determine whether charging is required and show charge completion with a green indicator.

Practical value

A multi-cell charging station makes repeated tracker service more organized: the operator does not have to treat each tracker as a separate loose device and manually infer its charge state.
